We made it through another week and the girls are nine weeks old. We had a very busy weekend with the girls meeting their Auntie for the first time and meeting their friend Maya at the zoo and Seaport Village (and also Galit and Alex).
On Friday, Jason and I were able to go out to dinner with some friends while my mother and sister babysat and I was able to go to a friend’s bachelorette party on Saturday while Jason stayed with the girls (I was home by 10pm!!).
As of today, Ava weighed 9lb 14oz and Emilie was 8lb 4 oz. We have our two month check up this week and can’t wait to see what their doctor thinks of their progress. Both girls are already growing out of their newborn clothing and will passing them on to their new playmates Casper and Marley born 09/16 …

The girls are 8 weeks old today!! We cannot believe how much they have changed and how fast time has gone…
Eight weeks ago I was laying in my hospital room (the first room which was soooo tiny) throwing up in my hair right around this time (8pm)… what fond memories.
Today Ava weighed 9lb 6oz and Emilie was 7lb 12oz. Both girls are doing well.
Grandma Noodle (my mother) left today after being here for another three weeks (sad). We are flying solo for the time being and I am scared out of my mind…
We have our first post baby vacation planned (with the girls) for the first weekend in October… we are heading to Pismo Beach and Nipomo for our friend’s wedding. You would think we were going to Europe based on how excited we are…

Yesterday’s weights
Ava was 8lb 15oz (so close to 9lbs)
Emilie was 7lbs 5oz (slowly but surely)

The girls will be 7 weeks old tomorrow and I am amazed at how fast they are growing. Today Ava weighed 8lb 11oz and Emilie was 7lb 2oz. Their size differences are really pronounced now and holding each of them is such a difference experience. After holding Ava for an extended period of time and then picking up Emilie, I swear I almost throw her over my shoulder b-c she is so light.
Emilie is still able to wear her little preemie onesies although they are really stretched to their max. She is in between sizes but will probably graduate into newborn sizes soon.
We received our first shipment of online purchased diapers. We currently are looking at 3 boxes of 90+ diapers and lament that this is only a 2.5-3 week supply (a singleton would last for six weeks with that quantity). They are little pooping machines.

We have made it through another week. Today’s weights were:
Ava 8lb 4oz
Emilie 6lb 11oz
Both girls are smiling and responding to Jason and I… and by “responding” I mean making eye contact and yelling at the top of their lungs night and day =) There are many more sleepless nights in the Carter Household…
On another note… today is the first day in many, many months I have been able to wear my wedding ring… awesome!!

Today Ava weighed in at 8lbs!!! Emilie was 6lb 8oz. Both are putting on weight steadily…
Ava had a cranial evaluation today to assess a slight deformity of one of her sutures on the right side. They say that this is due to her positioning in the womb (15+ weeks against my pelvis). She favors the right side and it is putting pressure on her skull. The therapist gave us exercises and positioning to do at home to correct her head shape. We hope it corrects naturally.
Tandem feeding attempts have been going well. We accomplished three yesterday and one today. Sorry the pictures are too graphic to post =)

The girls had their one month check up today. The official stats are:
Ava is 19 inches and weighed 7 lb 3 oz
Emilie is also 19 inches and weighed an even 6lbs
Now, both girls had dirty diapers on so that may have contributed to their weights… but it is still on the record at the MDs office.

The girls turned one month old yesterday… we are amazed how fast time has gone… was it really a month ago they arrived (a month and a day to be exact)??
Today, Ava weighed in at 7lb 3oz and Emilie was 5lb 13oz. They appear to be putting on an ounce a day which is great (the average is 5oz in a week).
Ava has graduated to newborn size clothes and diapers however Emilie is still in her preemie clothes and diapers but is catching up. We have to work quickly putting on weight so we can get our clothes to our other twin friends that will be arriving in the next few weeks =)
