The first 4D ultrasound was a bust – both babies were sleeping and covering their faces with either umbilical cords or their arms. The ultrasound folks were nice enough to let us come back for a second round, free of charge.
Stephanie was optimistic that we’d see some movement and better pictures of their faces because they were freaking out inside of her all day long. But, it turns out that they just tired themselves out so they slept through the entire second ultrasound. We still were able to get a few good shots of their faces and some great video of Baby B hiccuping and both babies yawning. Here’s what to look for:
0:42 – Baby A’s still a girl!
1:01 – Baby A’s profile and nose
1:31 – Baby A’s umbilical cord stacked on top of her face
2:00 – A 3D image of Baby A’s face
3:14 – Great video of Baby B with hiccups
4:01 – Baby B’s arm and hand covering her face
4:54 – Baby B’s foot
6:25 – Baby B’s butt (still having hiccups) sitting on top of Baby A’s head
7:08 – Baby B’s foot in front of Baby A’s face
7:43 – A 2D view of Baby A’s face
9:50 – The ultrasound tech pushing on Baby B on the right, trying to get her to move her arm
10:26 – Baby B mid yawn, with tongue sticking out
11:23 – Baby B’s face with arm in front
13:07 – From left to right, Baby B’s bent knee, arm, and face
15:50 – Same as above
16:11 – Baby A’s head pushing on Stephanie’s bladder to the right
We had a 4D ultrasound performed on 5/22. The girls were not in good positions and they decided to sleep through the whole thing, so we did not get great 3D images of them or much movement in the video. Baby A was wedged down in Stephanie’s pelvis with a bunch of umbilical cord on her face and Baby B had her arms and legs covering her face. The images must have been quite bad because the ultrasound folks let us come back a few days later, no charge.
Here’s what to look for in the video:
0:38 – Baby A heartbeat
1:09 – Baby B heartbeat
1:51 – Baby B showing off her lady parts
2:35 – Baby B’s face, with a good shot of her nose
3:30 – Baby B’s knee in front of her face
4:49 – The tech is showing how Baby B is laying on top of Baby A
5:30 – Baby A taking a small practice breath… or she’s getting bored
6:27 – Baby A’s face in 3D
8:20 – Baby B’s hand grabbing her foot in front of her face
9:46 – Baby B’s arm crossed in front of her face
11:17 – The tech is poking Baby A, trying to get her to wake up
13:21 – A huge yawn or practice breath from Baby A
14:54 – A good 3D shot of Baby A’s face
The second video, showing hiccups and more yawns, will be online in a few days.
Here is a picture from our 24 week ultrasound. The girls are doing well; baby A is 1 lb 9 oz and baby B is 1 lb 8 oz. Both are right at the 50th percentile. Baby A is our shy girl, never giving us a clear picture of her face. Baby B gave us a nice view of her face, chubby cheeks and all.
We had our 20 week anatomy study and found out we are expecting two little girls… They are healthy and everything appears to be there (or not there). Baby A and Baby B weigh 11 ounces and 10 ounces respectively which is right on target for 20 weekers…
I, of course, an measuring like a 26 weeker… life is already unfair!
