Emilie experienced a bit of food coma one afternoon while bouncing.
Ava has gotten very good at rolling over. Emilie is happy to watch for now.

Ava stayed up too late…

Well we just finished night #2 where the girls slept from 7pm to 10p-6:30am… awesome. Nap time has also streamlined. I think we are on to something.
Happy Thanksgiving!

If you don’t know what this stands for… I pray you never find out…
It means “Cry It Out” and is a sleep method made famous by Ferber. It involves allowing your baby to cry herself/himself to sleep with occasional reassurance from the parents.
Well after a run of good fortune and babies that sleep, Emilie has been slipping backwards every night. Where she once was sleeping for 5+ hours a night, she now is awake earlier and earlier each night… Last night was the final straw. On their 4mo birthday I started the CIO method (what a great present!!). As I sat at the computer at 2am reading about the CIO method (and while Emilie screamed her little head off and I was almost in tears) and had to wonder if I was doing the right thing.
Jason and I have decided to take control back from the girls and have decided to dictate nap time, sleep time, wake time and feeding time. So today they took their first formal nap since their sleepy newborn stage. We created a ritual and put them down in their crib. They have been asleep for one hour with no crying…. can we call this a success?? Let’s see

We have been blessed with girls that sleep!!! At least this week…. Here is our pattern:
Both girls start to fall asleep some time between 8-9pm, feed one last time by 10pm, then sleep until 5-7am each night. Then to top it off… they wake up for breakfast and fall back asleep until 9-10am… it is miraculous to me. What a difference some regular sleep makes…
Today Ava weighed 11lb 5oz (seems to be tapering off in the speed in which she was putting on weight)
Emilie was 9lb 15oz (OMG… almost double digits finally).
Both girls have the breastfed “chunk” look to them with very delicious rolls on their thighs…
Today I had Ava in stitches laughing while biting the bottoms of her feet. Hopefully we will get some video posted of her… it is priceless.

Well, the girls slept through the night again last night…. and actually through the morning as well. Both girls slept for 7+ hours, woke up for breakfast, and fell back asleep until their 1045 feeding. I hope this is a trend that will keep up!!

Well…I am proud to say that both girls slept through the night last night. It may be too early to celebrate however when you have not slept through the night in over three months (maybe longer for me with pregnancy bladder) you have to take what you can get… the small wonders in life… We are crossing our fingers that we are on to something… hooray for 7 hours of sleep.

Yesterday we witnessed our first round of “pay back” between the girls… here is what happened….
Both girls were suppose to be napping in their cribs when we heard Ava start crying (screaming, really). When we went into the room we found Emilie turned perpendicular (put to sleep parallel) to her sister kicking her in her face. Now, I find this horribly ironic as the roles were reversed in utero when Ava was kicking Emilie in the face during our last ultrasound at 35 weeks… pay back is a bitch, I say.
