Well, both girls are now officially crawling. Emilie has finally turned her practice into motion and is really moving around the living room. Ava can get up on her knees but prefers to move by brute force
Tonight Ava weighed 17lb 3oz and Emilie was 16lb 7oz.
This is the first command mastered. When asked “Gimme A Kiss”… Ava will “pucker” up with an open mouth, slobbery, mess of a kiss… It is delightful!! Emilie’s kisses are a bit more demure.
Doesn’t that sound fun!! This is my official diagnosis from my orthopedic hand specialist. Here is what the Mayo Clinic says about it:
In de Quervain’s tenosynovitis, the sheath of the tendons on the thumb side of your wrist becomes inflamed or swollen, restricting the tendons’ movement. The result with de Quervain’s tenosynovitis is discomfort and pain every time <emphasis added> you turn your wrist, grasp anything or make a fist.
I have had the maximum doses of steroid treatments (via injections… Yeah more fun) and so if it persists, I will need a “minor surgery”… isn’t that an oxymoron?
Anyway, the girls are growing and doing well. We have tried mangos for the first time the other day and love it!!
Last night Ava weighed 16lb 8oz and Emilie was 15lb 13oz. She is closing the 1.5 lb gap!! You go girl…
Ava started crawling last week. It’s more of a brute force motion with her arms, but she’s still able to propel herself forward. Emilie is practicing a more refined method.
As you can see by the sudden lack of posts, life has gotten really busy. Here is the latest and greatest in the life of the Carter Girls.
Ava weighs 16lb 6oz and has been crawling around the house. Now, this is not a “skilled” crawl but a motion of sheer will. She just pulls herself around the room using brute force.
Emilie weighs 15lb 11oz and is closing the gap between she and her sister. She is sitting up unassisted and is perfecting the art of crawling. She is a pro at getting up on her knees and rocking however cannot move forward. She has learned how to simply pull the blanket toward her thereby bringing the toy on interest to her… I call that enterprise.
Both girls are eating solids twice a day and have an extensive diet of sweet potatoes, squash, avocado, peas, green beans, zucchini (they are not a fan), pears, apples, bananas, prunes, blueberries, rice and oatmeal cereal, and most recently yogurt and baby puffs (dried cereal). I have made most of their food but supplement with jar stuff in a pinch.
