As you can see by the picture we are back to our ABC's... We have Baby A. Carter and Baby B. Carter.
We have made it through another week. Today’s weights were:
Ava 8lb 4oz
Emilie 6lb 11oz
Both girls are smiling and responding to Jason and I… and by “responding” I mean making eye contact and yelling at the top of their lungs night and day =) There are many more sleepless nights in the Carter Household…
On another note… today is the first day in many, many months I have been able to wear my wedding ring… awesome!!

Today Ava weighed in at 8lbs!!! Emilie was 6lb 8oz. Both are putting on weight steadily…
Ava had a cranial evaluation today to assess a slight deformity of one of her sutures on the right side. They say that this is due to her positioning in the womb (15+ weeks against my pelvis). She favors the right side and it is putting pressure on her skull. The therapist gave us exercises and positioning to do at home to correct her head shape. We hope it corrects naturally.
Tandem feeding attempts have been going well. We accomplished three yesterday and one today. Sorry the pictures are too graphic to post =)

Ava is at 7lb 11oz
Emilie is at 6lb 4oz
We are at the five week old mark… our official due date was 08/20 (Grandma Luckett’s birthday) and the end of our gestational week counting. Both girls are doing well and growing slowly but surely.
We had my father and stepmother here for a week to help which was amazing. Jason and I actually made it out to dinner one night alone!! No to bad!! My mother comes again Monday so the “coffee fairy” and “laundry fairy” returns!! Yeah!!
Our next set goal is to learn to tandem feed. I have bought a twins nursing pillow which comes very recommended… and looks like a giant lunch counter… so hopefully by the next post we will have proof of our success.

The girls had their one month check up today. The official stats are:
Ava is 19 inches and weighed 7 lb 3 oz
Emilie is also 19 inches and weighed an even 6lbs
Now, both girls had dirty diapers on so that may have contributed to their weights… but it is still on the record at the MDs office.
The girls turned one month old yesterday… we are amazed how fast time has gone… was it really a month ago they arrived (a month and a day to be exact)??
Today, Ava weighed in at 7lb 3oz and Emilie was 5lb 13oz. They appear to be putting on an ounce a day which is great (the average is 5oz in a week).
Ava has graduated to newborn size clothes and diapers however Emilie is still in her preemie clothes and diapers but is catching up. We have to work quickly putting on weight so we can get our clothes to our other twin friends that will be arriving in the next few weeks =)

Ava – Two weeks old
I’m very slowly getting to the hundreds of pictures we’ve taken over the last three weeks. All of the latest pictures of the family can be found in the Flickr collection Parenthood x 2. Right now we have a selection from day one and two at the hospital, with more coming soon.
The girls would have been 39 weeks today and are packing on the pounds. Emilie was 5lb 11oz today (same weight as her sister at birth) and Ava was a staggering 6lb 15 oz. They seem to be growing about 2oz a day or so. We are experiencing more periods of being awake (unfortunately, most of the time it is around midnight and 3-4am). Both Jason and I are trying to get sleep when we can. Life is hectic but good.

We have made it three weeks and everyone is still alive and well. The girls were three weeks old yesterday or 38 3/7 weeks (gestational weeks) today.
Life is hectic but we are slowly figuring things out. I still cannot believe there isn’t an instruction manual given out when you leave the hospital. This week we have experienced explosive spit up (into my face) after a serious feeding frenzy (by Ava) and some major gas issues (with Emilie) but overall both girls are doing really well.
Ava is almost 6.5 lbs and Emilie is just over 5lbs… such big girls!!!
