Below is Exhibit A for my “Father of the Year” award.
Here is Ava’s new trick she learned tonight… she is starting to figure out how to get us to laugh and respond to her “tricks”. Although we did not catch video of it… Emilie was also rolling around the room. Mostly, into her sister and laughing hysterically about it…
Emilie experienced a bit of food coma one afternoon while bouncing.
One year ago TODAY I went on bed rest and remained on bed rest for six weeks!! How times flies
Our posts have become less and less so if anyone is still reading this (our faithful followers) here is what has been going on in the Carter household.
We moved into our new home in May and are loving it. The girls love the community park down the street and love swinging and watching the birds. Both are getting use to the pool.
Ava is learning to stand on her own and seems ready to start walking. Emilie has no time to learn this skill and is constantly on the move. She is into every drawer and exploring every corner of the house. Emilie can climb the entire flight of stairs (14 in total) but has no sense of how to get down… pretty scary combo.
Ava is just over 19lbs and Emilie is just under that. We will have their official stats at their 12mo check up.
Stephanie
The girls had their nine month (OMG!) check up this week. Both girls are climbing up the growth charts and their MD was very happy…
Ava’s stats:
Weight 17lb 12oz (45th percentile)
Length 28″ (65th percentile)
Head 17 1/2″ (65th percentile)
Emilie’s stats
Weight 17lb (23th percentile)
Length 27″ (26th percentile)
Head 16 3/4″ (24th percentile)
On another note, the MD we saw (our normal MD was on maternity leave) recommended I feed my children Wonder Bread, white potatoes, rice (none of which has any nutritional value), and whole eggs (not recommended until 12mo). And he suggested we use baby powder (which is also not recommended because of the talc)… I will be glad when we find a new MD closer to the new house…

Well… in the G-Rated sense… the new hardwood flooring for our new house just started to be installed today… after a week delay and many sleepless nights…
Yeah, for wood!!
Stephanie
Rhino is not only the color of our new bedroom but it is the permanent look of my children. We have entered the “goose egg” stage where both kids have constant bumps on their foreheads… they look like baby rhinos…
Emilie is really on the move lately. Her latest accomplishment is that she can make it to the cat food dish in one minute flat. Ava is starting to crawl with skill now but is really frustrated by her slow speed. Mostly, she is happy on her tummy reading a book… sounds like her daddy.
Stephanie
As Steph mentioned, Emilie is really getting around the house now. This video doesn’t really show it off, so I’ll have to get more soon. But, you can see a few of the tricks she’s mastered in this video: crawling, torturing Penny, and attempting to steal Ava’s pacifier.
